9 Tame Impala Songs You Can’t Miss Out On

Source: musicfeeds.com.au

There’s something about psychedelic music that I can’t explain to you.

The feeling of trying to wind down after a hard day’s work and indulging in some psychedelic music is really something else. There have been many days when I’ve put my Spotify Premium to good use, amped up the streaming quality, and played Tame Impala through the night.

However, you can only make the most out of the experience as long as you have your streaming device connected to a reliable internet connection, so that you don’t have to wait for the song to load, and it streams in crisp audio quality.

With that said, I’m glad I use an Xfinity internet connection at home for streaming; it keeps the sound rich and uninterrupted. You can check out Xfinity Broadband plans if you want the same smooth experience for music, movies, or shows.

Circling back to Tame Impala, here are some songs that I believe you shouldn’t miss, since they are bound to elevate you to another dimension. Make sure you don’t miss out! (And be sure to use good quality headphones).

The Less I Know The Better

I can bet that you have heard this song in a lot of memes, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t good. It is one of the most upbeat songs you’ll ever hear, and once you play it, the nostalgia hits pretty hard since the song sounds like something straight from the 80s, but with a modern touch to it.

I can easily say that this song is one of Kevin Parker’s best works, especially because once you pay attention to the lyrics, you realize how sad the song actually is.

The beat, however, overpowers the lyrics, turning the song into a sad-fun one. If you are going to start listening to Tame Impala, I recommend that you start with The Less I Know The Better.

New Person, Same Old Mistakes

While The Less I Know The Better is the most popular song, my personal favorite is New Person, Same Old Mistakes.

It has a slower vibe, but the psychedelic element makes the song super addictive. Plus, the song gives you a message of how people have a habit of making repetitive mistakes while claiming to have changed, which is quite common all over the world.

However, what got me hooked to the song in the first place was when the timestamp hits 5:05. I recommend you close your eyes when you listen to this outro of the song, since it transcends you into another dimension as you are listening, which goes to show what a musical and creative genius Kevin Parker is.

This song definitely has the best outro out of all Tame Impala songs, and it is the kind that you can’t miss. Rihanna also made a cover of the song and named it Same ‘Ol Mistakes.

Yes, I’m Changing

If you’ve just been through a bad breakup, then this song is for you.

It tells the story of someone going through the post-breakup phase and how they wish their ex-lover the best in their life to come. While many other breakup songs tend to be aggressive, what I love about this song is that it supports calm acceptance.

Not only that, but there is always a phase of longing after a breakup where you want your former partner to come back, and Kevin touches that topic as well when he mentions “and if you don’t think it’s a crime you can come along with me” on his journey of life ahead.

Borderline

This is yet another song that keeps its focus on a relationship when it is on its last legs and is about to end. Since the word “borderline” is an adjective here, Kevin cleverly used it to describe a relationship at a point when it is neither continuing nor ending.

However, just like The Less I Know the Better, this song is pretty upbeat as well, which makes it hard to determine at first that this is supposed to be a heartbreak song.

While this is a breakup song, the beat makes it the kind that you can dance to, so make sure that you don’t pay too much attention to the lyrics and dance anyway!

This song and The Less I Know The Better are like two peas in a pod, making them dance-worthy, but sad at the same time.

There are some songs that I haven’t mentioned in this list, but you should listen to them as well. These honorary mentions include Eventually, Elephant, Love/Paranoia, Breathe Deeper, and One More Hour.

Eventually

If you’ve ever been in a relationship that was slowly crumbling, it eventually captures that emotional chaos perfectly. It’s the sound of realizing that you have to let go, even when you don’t want to. The gradual buildup in the track mirrors that painful realization, the kind where acceptance doesn’t come easy, but you know it’s inevitable. The synth layers feel almost like waves hitting you over and over again until the emotion sinks in.

Let it Happen

A true masterpiece that opens the Currents album, Let It Happen feels like a journey through change and chaos. The looping sections and electronic breakdown create a hypnotic flow that symbolizes how life keeps moving whether you’re ready or not. It’s not just a song, it’s an experience. If you’ve ever found yourself overthinking every move in life, Let It Happen teaches you to just… let go.

Elephant

One of the heavier, more rock-driven tracks in Tame Impala’s catalog, Elephant is a pure burst of confidence and swagger. It’s punchy, it’s loud, and it carries a groove that feels unstoppable. The track stands out for how unapologetically bold it is, proving that Kevin Parker can shift between dreamy psychedelia and hard-hitting riffs without missing a beat.

Feels Like We Only Go Backwards

Few songs capture melancholy as beautifully as this one. The lyrics reflect a kind of emotional exhaustion, being stuck in the same patterns and watching things slip away, yet still hoping it’ll all work out. The harmonies and reverb-heavy sound make it one of the most emotionally rich tracks in his discography.

Apocalypse Dreams

A lesser-mentioned gem, Apocalypse Dreams showcases Kevin’s ability to turn existential reflection into something euphoric. The song gradually expands from quiet introspection into a soaring, colorful soundscape that feels infinite. It’s six minutes of pure catharsis and one of those tracks that remind you how vast and imaginative Tame Impala’s music can be.

There are still plenty of tracks that deserve recognition, like Love/Paranoia, Breathe Deeper, and One More Hour. But even with just these, you’ll have enough to understand why Kevin Parker’s music has such a timeless pull. It’s not just about hearing the songs, it’s about feeling them. Whether you’re lying down after a long day or staring at the ceiling late at night, Tame Impala gives you the space to drift away and just be.
